Overnight lows to be above freezing for part of this week

Share

A warmer weather pattern is setting up across the west with a ridge of high pressure along the Pacific coastline continuing to support strong westerly flow onshore from California through to British Columbia.

In California, those Santa Ana winds will complicate firefighting efforts, while in southern Alberta that adiabatic process will elevate temperatures and push overnight lows above average daytime high values.

In Calgary, the average range of temperatures this time of year includes daily highs of -3 C along with lows of -15 C.

On Monday, the daytime high will reach 4 C, and that will be the coldest high for the next four days.

More melting will occur for the start of the week, with some pooled water freezing again early in the day and/or in areas with little exposure to sun.

A rapid cooldown is expected by the end of the week when that ridge starts to break down. The overnight low of -7 C on Thursday will become Fridays daytime high and light and scattered snow is possible across the province.
