Calgary police have a person in custody after Friday’s shooting in the northwest community of Evanston that left two people dead.

Police were called to the 0 to 100 block of Evanscrest Manor N.W. around 3:10 p.m. on April 20 for reports of gun shots.

Officers arrived on scene and found two people dead in a vehicle.

Autopsies are underway by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and are expected to be completed tomorrow.

The identities of the victims will be released once the autopsies are complete.

Late Sunday night, homicide detectives took a person of interest into custody.

Investigators are still interviewing this individual and are in the process of gathering evidence related to the homicides.

Homicide detectives have not determined a motive but they believe this double homicide was targeted.

Investigators have spoken with a number of witnesses but they believe there are friends and associates of the victims who may have information about what happened.
