A woman who was run down by a pickup truck as it fled a gas station on 16th Avenue has died from her injuries in hospital and late Tuesday police confirmed they had two persons of interest in the case in custody.

Police were called to the scene of a hit and run at a Centex gas station near the 1800 block of 16 Avenue N.W. at about 11:00 a.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, they found a female employee of the gas station in the middle of 16 Avenue, suffering from serious injuries.

Maryam Rashidi Ashtiani, 35, confronted two people who had left the gas station without paying for their fuel and when she tried to block the truck's path she was hit and run over.

Ashtiani was transported to hospital in life threatening condition and on Tuesday, she died from her injuries in hospital.

Police released images of the truck and recovered it on Monday in the 3800 block of Vancouver Crescent N.W.

They also released images of two suspects and say tips from the public resulted in the tentative identity of one of the alleged offenders.

On Tuesday at about 8:00 p.m., police confirmed that they had a person of interest in the case in custody.

Police received a tip from the public and attended a Beddington area home and a second person of interest was taken into custody a few hours later.
