Police investigate theft at helium recovery facility near Brooks, Alta.
Brooks RCMP are investigating a robbery at the Royal Helium Recovery Production facility that took place on Christmas Eve.
That night, Brooks RCMP received a report of a large-scale theft from the facility in Newell County.
A preliminary investigation revealed that someone cut a hole into the building, through which they stole several large, expensive pieces of equipment.
Police said in a release that the items are unique and have limited value outside of their intended use.
The RCMP said the stolen equipment has limited value unless you are using it to recover helium
Brooks RCMP ask that the public be on the lookout for the stolen items, which include:
- Extrel Mass Spectrometer Analyzer;
- Binary Gas Analyzer;
- Hydrogen and Moisture Analyzers;
- PSA Compressor Package;
- Instrument Air Skid; and
- Four or Five Toshiba Variable Frequency Drives)
