It is the busiest time of years at Canada Post's Calgary sorting plant as workers try to get thousands of packages, parcels and letters out before Christmas.
Over the next few weeks tens of millions of cards, letters and packages will go through mail sorting plants across the country.
The huge volume of mail means Canada Post has had to add seasonal workers, trucks, planes and trains to keep things moving.
At the processing plant at 1100 49 Ave. N.E., between 200 and 2000 employees work around the clock.
Packages and letters come in and are checked and sorted and loaded on trucks.
Most of the letters and packages have a Calgary destination but the plant also services other Alberta locations.
One jolly fellow is now getting his mail electronically too but there are still a lot of kids who prefer snail mail for their requests.
"Santa Claus absolutely needs us. I mean he relies on us as a front line to make sure that all of the letters get to Santa and we believe we have people that work in co-operation with Santa's elves," said Vaden Hillier.
Santa is online and is also accepting letters through his elves at canadapost.ca
