A mishap at a construction site near the Calgary International Airport left one worker suffering minor injuries and the evacuation of the area.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., a skyjack at the Clique Hotel construction site tipped, landing on a nearby propane tank. The impact of the fall punctured the large tank and toppled the operator of the machine.
Fire crews were dispatched to the scene on Aero Dr. N.E. and the area was evacuated.
According to fire officials, the propane tank was unlikely to explode. Additional resources were deployed to close the tank’s valve.
The operator suffered minor injuries in the incident.
