Access to a busy road near an industrial park east of Calgary has become an ongoing frustration for truckers.

Wrangler Road is a busy crescent on the very edge of the city and is technically in Rocky View County.

The road is quickly becoming a shortcut for a half dozen or so trucking and freight companies that have set up shop nearby.

Drivers say someone keeps pulling a chain and "road closed" sign across the road without warning and blocking traffic.

For the truckers it can be very frustrating as they can't exactly pull an easy u-turn to get out.

The MD will take over the road in 2014 but the road is in need of repair now as it has been damaged by poor drainage and heavy truck traffic.

The number of vehicles on the road is several times greater than the volume predicted by traffic studies in the area before it was developed.

The developer says he never planned for so much maintenance on the road and that’s why the chain was necessary.

The developer plans to put a final 70 millimeters of asphalt on the road in the spring.
