The self-proclaimed ‘Heart of the Red Mile’ will soon cease to beat following a decision to close the 17 Ave. S.W. location of Melrose Café & Bar.
According to a notice posted on the Melrose Calgary website, the closure will allow management to focus on the bar’s Stampede location
“After twenty three years of business Melrose Café & Bar will be closing its 17th Avenue location permanently. The Ownership has decided it is time to close the venue and turn our focus to the Cowboys Casino Location. We would like to thank all our patrons, suppliers, and partners for the opportunity to be a fixture in the Calgary community. We look forward to continuing to deliver the Melrose brand and the guest experience our customers have come to know at the Cowboys Casino location.”
Melrose’s location at 730 17 Ave S.W. opened in 1991 and gained international exposure during the 2004 Calgary Flames playoff run.
