Former Stampeders star Joffrey Reynolds appeared in a Calgary courtroom on Thursday and now faces a new charge in relation to the crime he is being held for.

During his hearing, Reynolds learned that he would now be facing a charge for common assault.

Calgary Police say that on July 14, a woman came back to her Eau Claire home and found a man had broken into her home.

The man then confronted the woman and physically assaulted her.

The former player has also run afoul of Border Services, being picked up last week for being in the country illegally.

As a result from that situation, he is required to report to Canada Immigration Services twice a month.

Reynolds was released by the Stamps in January and has yet to be picked up by another team.

He has been given until Aug. 16 to find a lawyer and remains free on a $3,000 bail.
