Derek Saretzky, the man accused of killing a Blairmore father, his young daughter and a senior will face a judge and jury for his murder trial, scheduled to begin in May of next year.
During a hearing at Lethbridge Provincial Court on Monday, a judge set aside eight weeks, beginning on May 8 and wrapping up on June 30, 2017, for the triple murder trial.
Saretzky appeared during the proceedings via CCTV from the Calgary Remand Centre, where he is being held.
Members of the victims' family were also in attendance.
He is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Terry Blanchette and his two-year-old daughter Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette in September 2015.
Saretzky has also been charged with the murder of Hanne Meketech, a senior from Coleman.
Blanchette was found in his home near Blairmore and his daughter’s body was found at a rural property two days later.
Meketech’s body was found in her Coleman home around the same time.
Alberta Justice says the Crown is planning to proceed on the charges via direct indictment, meaning there would be no preliminary hearing in the case.
The hearing was supposed to have taken place on June 20.
