The man convicted in the triple murderer of a Medicine Hat family has abandoned his appeal.
Jeremy Steinke was sentenced to life in prison in December 2008 for three counts of first-degree murder in the brutal slaying of his girlfriend's family in April 2006.
Steinke, who now goes by the name Jackson May, indicated back in January that he wished to appeal his conviction in the murders.
There is no information about why he had a change of heart.
Steinke's girlfriend was also convicted of killing her father, mother and little brother but can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
She was 12-years-old at the time of the murders.
She is currently living in a halfway house in Calgary and attending school in the city.
It's expected that she will attend court to update her progress.
Steinke is serving three concurrent life sentences for a minimum 25 years without parole.
