Two workers were injured after several framed walls fell over at a home under construction in the northeast on Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a residential construction site near 31 Avenue and 5 Street N.E. at about 8:30 a.m. for reports that a worker had fallen.

The worker fell almost 5 metres and was removed from the site by firefighters who then secured the structure.

Fire crews discovered that several framed walls had fallen over in the three storey home that was under construction.

"When we arrived, we removed the construction worker and transferred care to EMS and secured the site because the structural integrity of the home had been compromised due to the walls collapsing," said Carol Henke, with the Calgary Fire Department

Henke says weather conditions will considered during the investigation.

"That is going to be part of the investigation, whether the wind had a role to play in the collapse of those walls," said Henke.

Officials say another worker was also injured in the incident and taken to hospital.

The Safety Response Unit and Occupational Health and Safety are investigating.
