A Calgary man sent to jail after a gang shootout will soon be a free man.

CTV News has learned that 28-year-old Shaun Roberts will be released on October 29th with special conditions.

Roberts was arrested shortly after he was shot in the face in 2008.

Police say it was a gunfight between rival gangs.

Roberts was convicted of firearms charges, along with three other men.

He will be supervised during his release and has also been ordered to avoid contact with his former associates.
