Police are investigating after a body was found in the river by a passerby.
Emergency crews were called at about 10:00 a.m. on Monday for reports of a body in the Bow River near the Langevin Bridge.
The Calgary Fire Department launched a boat to retrieve the body and brought it to the north bank of the river.
Emergency crews believe that the body is that of a woman in her 30s.
"On arrival, EMS received care of the patient, a woman in her late 30s, from the Calgary Fire Department Aquatic Rescue Team and on our early, brief assessment we determined she was deceased and did not attempt any resuscitation," said Stuart Brideaux, Public Education Officer for Calgary EMS.
There is no word yet on the woman’s identity or cause of death.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
