A late morning collision on Highway 93 near the village of Radium has one person fighting for his life in a Calgary hospital.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., a head-on collision occurred between a semi and a car at a location south of Radium.

STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to the crash scene in Kootenay National Park and crews transported an adult male to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. The patients injuries are described as critical, life threatening.

According to DriveBC, the highway will remain closed from Radium 4 Corners to the B.C./Alberta border until approximately midnight.

Columbia Valley RCMP are investigating the crash.
