A school bus driver had to act quickly after her bus caught fire on a northeast street on Wednesday morning.
Calgary fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle fire at about 8:15 a.m. near 1st Street and 24th Avenue N.E. and found the bus engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Fire officials say the school bus driver noticed smoke coming from the dash and quickly pulled over to the side of the road near a school.
She evacuated all 12 children safely and they were taken into the school to wait for another bus to arrive.
Firefighters doused the blaze and took precautions to ensure hazardous materials did not enter the storm drain.
Fire officials say that no injuries were reported thanks to the quick actions of the bus driver.
