An afternoon collision near the east edge of Calgary city limits injured six adults and caused traffic delays

Shortly before 3:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to 16 Ave. N.E. between the Stoney Trail overpass and 68 St. N.E. following reports of a collision involving two cars.

According to police, a car was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of 16 Ave. when it collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Six people, three men and three women, were injured in the crash and transported to hospital in non-life threatening condition

According to EMS spokesperson Adam Loria, four of the patients suffered minor injuries while the other two suffered serious, soft tissue injuries.

The CPS Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Alcohol and speed are not believed to have factored in the collision.

Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours following the crash.
