RCMP are investigating the scene after one person was killed in a serious head-on crash early Tuesday morning northwest of Lethbridge.
Picture Butte RCMP responded to the scene on Highway 23 at Highway 519 near Nobleford.
They say that a Pontiac Montana was northbound on Highway 23 when it struck a semi truck head on.
Police believe that heavy fog contributed to the crash.
The driver of the van, a 57-year-old male, was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital, but died on arrival.
Police have not released his name.
The driver of the semi truck was not hurt in the crash.
Traffic on Highway 23 is being diverted as Picture Butte RCMP, Lethbridge Traffic Services, Alberta Sheriffs, and the RCMP Collision Analyst investigate the scene.
Detours are available using Highway 3 through Fort Macleod.
