Dory Rossiter joined CTV Lethbridge in 1990 as the weather anchor and special events coordinator. She also produces the "Our Community" information spots that run throughout the broadcast day and highlight what’s happening in locations across southern Alberta. Her job as a weather anchor has extended beyond the studio, as she has visited over 200 classrooms during her career, to share information on how weather information is gathered. Teachers enjoy her talks about the science of weather but also her information about how weather was predicted hundreds of years ago through indicators in nature, encouraging children to observe what is going on all around them from season to season. Dory received an Environmental Citizenship award from the Minister of the Environment, Government of Canada, for her work with students in understanding the science of weather and environmental issues and also the Alberta Emerald Award.  She has helped organize over 40 environmental clean-ups of areas in distress from pollution and neglect.

Through her weekly feature "Dory’s Story" she has told hundreds of stories about the people, places and things that make Lethbridge special. She has also produced several half-hour features. Her features on "Burn Awareness for Children" and “A Day in the Life of Fire Fighters in Lethbridge" received awards from the International Fire Fighters Association in Washington, DC. Her feature on "Ronald McDonald House…The House That Caring Built" received the Clarion Award for Women in Broadcasting.

Lethbridge-based Dory acts as emcee for dozens of events each year and has been very active with many local boards and committees, including the YMCA, the University of Lethbridge, Volunteer Lethbridge, the Galt Museum and Archives, the MS Society, the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta, the YWCA, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Schizophrenia Society, Lethbridge Public Library and Environment Lethbridge, to name a few. For her community work, she has received the Legion Medal for Service, Government of Canada Community Builders Award, The Key to the City from the City of Lethbridge, Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal, Alberta Centennial Medal, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award, the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteerism, Citizen of The Year from the City of Lethbridge, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the Volunteer of the Year Award from the University of Lethbridge.

Her work in media has garnered provincial awards from St. John Ambulance, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alberta Tourism, the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Premier’s Council  Award of Excellence in Public Awareness, for reporting on Persons with Disabilities.  She has received national communications awards from the Kidney Foundation of Canada,  the Schizophrenia Society of Canada and the Toastmasters International Leadership Award. She was also given a Paul Harris Fellowship Award from Rotary International.

Dory’s first language is English and she understands conversational French.
