Secret wire-tap conversations made by one of the people accused of murdering a six-year-old Calgary girl in 2011 were played in court on Wednesday.
The comments were made by Marie Magoon, who admitted to shoving and pushing the girl, remembering one particular incident where Meika Jordan struck a high chair as a result of one of the assaults.
Magoon and Meika’s biological father, Spencer Jordan, were also heard on tape discussing what would happen if they were charged, surmising that they couldn’t both be convicted for anything that happened.
Jordan claimed in the recording that they could create reasonable doubt over who committed the assaults.
Meika died after she was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in November 2011.
Magoon and Jordan claimed the girl suffered injuries when she fell down the stairs.
Meika died four days later.
The trial continues on Thursday.
