A Nanton resident and a Claresholm resident have been charged in relation to multiple break-and-enters that took place in southeast Nanton.

On Jan. 5, Nanton RCMP responded to reports of a number of businesses that were broken into.

Officers say they were able to locate evidence for investigation at a number of locations.

On Jan. 7, it was determined that the evidence merited a need to search a specific property. RCMP obtained and executed a search warrant at a local rental residence and property, where they seized stolen property, drugs and other evidence that related to multiple break-ins of properties and residences in Nanton.

A 31-year-old Nanton resident and a Claresholm resident were arrested and charged with break and enter into a business, mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.

Following a bail hearing, the Nanton resident was released and scheduled to appear in court in Fort MacLeod on Feb. 5.

The second person is scheduled to appear in court in Fort MacLeod on April 2.
