The weather cooperated for the town of High River’s Show & Shine on Sunday and nearly 10,000 people took in the 11th edition of the annual event. The car show is put on by River City Classics, a group comprised of car aficionados.

Vintage cars lined High River’s downtown core along streets that only a few months ago were flooded by the Highwood River.

While many of the town’s businesses have not reopened and many families have yet to return to their homes, Sunday was a chance for residents of the town to forget about their problems for a couple of hours. Friends were reunited and spent the afternoon smiling and laughing.

“I really hope today brings morale of the community back up because the whole community has been struggling to get lives back,” said High River resident Clayton Cameron. “To take a step back and enjoy the day, hopefully people will do that today.”

According to the Town of High River, 406 homes remain uninhabitable following June’s flood.
