They may be the latest in a string of young Calgary men to join terrorist fighters in the Middle East.
Calgary brothers, Collin and Greg Gordon have reportedly joined ISIS.
It’s hard for Andrea Bell to imagine Collin Gordon as anything but the boy she knew as a student at Lord Beaverbrook High School.
Bell says “one of the nicest guys on the team, very humble, he was a great athlete.”
Bell remembers Collin Gordon as a stand out on the volleyball team in high school, and he then went on to play for SAIT.
But sometime after college, things changed for Collin and his brother Greg.
They converted to Islam, moved into a downtown Calgary apartment building and started attending a mosque.
Collin’s Twitter account also changed drastically.
In 2011, he was tweeting fond memories of high school.
In August this year, he was tweeting about the beheading of American journalist James Foley. He tweeted “the perfection of terrorism.”
Now the brothers appear to have gone overseas to fight with ISIS, the terror group that killed Foley.
