Calgary police have arrested a man who was spotted sitting in a lawn chair, supported by dozens of helium balloons, high over the Stampede grounds on Sunday.
Images and video started going viral on Sunday evening showing the person high in the sky above the grounds.
Police have identified the individual in the chair as Daniel Boria, 26, a Calgary business owner.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., police say they were notified about a man spotted floating in a chair with over 100 balloons attached over the 0-100 block of Harlow Avenue N.W.
Witnesses told police that the individual proceeded in a southerly direction towards the downtown core.
Once Boria reached downtown Calgary, he jumped from the chair and deployed a parachute, descending safely and landing in a greenspace at Highfield Boulevard and Ogden Road S.E.
Police say he was trying to land in the Stampede grounds.
He's been charged with one count of mischief causing danger to life and has since been released.
