A Calgary police officer has been taken off duty and is facing multiple charges in relation to a marijuana seizure.

CPS says the officer seized the pot during the course of his duties in November of 2015, and it’s believed he may have kept it instead of turning it in.

The Anti-Corruption Unit investigated, and the officer was arrested on Friday, June 3, 2016.

Robert Cumming, 43, from Calgary, has now been charged with breach of trust, theft under and possession of a controlled substance.

His next court appearance is Friday, July 15, 2016. He has been relieved from duty and the service is considering whether or not to suspend his pay.

An internal investigation will begin after the criminal process concludes.
