Calgary city council is now back in session, over two months since the flooding in June severely damaged the Council Chambers.
Workers had been trickling back into Old City Hall starting at the beginning of August, returning in phase as different parts of the damaged building were reopened after it was shut down on June 21.
All of the building's systems, including electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, have been tested and verified as being in good working order.
This is the first time that council will be holding a meeting in Council Chambers after they were forced to move to Deerfoot Junction for the duration of the flooding and subsequent repairs.
Monday’s meeting won’t be easy – 19 items are on the list.
It’s also one of the last meetings scheduled before October’s election.
Officials say they are still looking at plans to reduce future flood risk to the downtown core.
