Dane Dobbie explodes for 8 goals as Roughnecks beat Albany 13-12 in overtime
For three quarters, Dane Dobbie wasn’t much of a factor for the Calgary Roughnecks, but in the fourth quarter, he found another gear that led to the Roughnecks defeating the Albany Firewolves 13-12 in overtime.
Heading into the final frame, Albany led the Roughnecks 8-5, with Calgary getting a pair of goals from Curtis Dickson and another pair from Tanner Cook, along with one from Matthieu Gautier.
That all set the stage for Dobbie, who scored seven goals in the fourth quarter and then added an eighth in overtime to spark the Roughnecks to the win.
The fourth-quarter outburst set an NLL record for the most goals scored by a single player in a single quarter.
Cameron Macleod stopped 45 shots for Calgary, as the Roughnecks were outshot 57-48 by the Firewolves.
Next up for the Roughnecks is their Dec. 28 home opener against the Vancouver Warriors.
