Calgary police have identified the woman killed in Monday afternoon's pedestrian-car collision near Macleod Tr. S.E.

An autopsy has confirmed 33-year-old Lacey Yvonne Manion of Calgary died as a result of blunt force trauma.

30-year-old Kristoffer Del Campo of Calgary has been charged with manslaughter.

CTV Calgary has learned Kristoffer Del Campo and Manion had been in a relationship since February and both had a criminal past.  The pair were among four people arrested in May of 2013 in Medicine Hat as part of an investigation into the fraudulent use of credit cards.

Family members of Lacey Yvonne Manion say they are devastated by the news of her death.  Lacey was the youngest of five siblings and grew up in Kamloops, B.C.

According to a sister of Lacey's, the mother of three had moved to Calgary nearly 15 years ago and there had been very little contact between Lacey and her family over the past few months.

Manion's family was aware of Lacey's run-ins with the law and were concerned for Lacey's well-being.

The crash occurred Monday, at approximately 2:00 p.m., when a Chevrolet Camaro exited a parking lot on 42 Ave. S.E.,  just off of Macleod Trail, at a high rate of speed.  Police believe Manion had been a passenger in the Camaro before exiting from the vehicle.

The car struck Manion while she was crossing the sidewalk, and the car continued to drag her across two lanes of traffic and a median, before coming to a stop.

Witnesses were alerted to the scene when a man began screaming for help.

“I just heard screaming that was it," says Paul Young. "I ran out, saw feet,  and put a jack under the car and jacked it up off of her."

Manion was found underneath the driver’s side rear wheel.  EMS arrived on scene in minutes, but it was already too late; she died at the scene.

“The initial assessment by EMS determined that no effort would be undertaken and therefore no resuscitative efforts were initiated and it was determined that she was deceased,” said Stuart Brideaux, with the Calgary EMS.

Del Campo remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
