A Calgary man who suffered extensive injuries after he was hit by a car in Taiwan earlier this month remains in hospital and his family and friends are raising funds to bring him back to Canada for treatment.
John Kelly has been living in Taiwan for the past three years and was hit by a vehicle while walking home on October 1, 2016.
According to the family’s GoFundMe page, Kelly has extensive injuries including damage to his spine.
Doctors at the Taichung veterans hospital have told his family that he needs to come back to Canada as soon as possible for treatment.
The cost of a medevac flight to bring him to Vancouver is about $45,000 and then another flight would be needed to get him to hospital in Calgary.
So far, the GoFundMe campaign has raised just over $11,000, click HERE to make a donation.
