Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to be at Calgary’s Stampede Park on Tuesday for one of the world’s largest industry trade events.
The Global Petroleum Show is expected to host about 65,000 with participants from about 100 countries including Argentina, Brazil, China, India, and Peru.
About 2,000 companies will have exhibits at the show, which is expected to generate about $8.9B in business transactions, with $4.2B involving Alberta-based companies alone.
Wes Scott, spokesperson with the show, says that Calgary is the perfect place to hold a global conference centred on the oil industry.
"Calgary is where all the head offices are. This is really designed for them. Come down and get an education, see the newest technologies and network." Scott says.
The three day conference is also expected to pump $70M into the province.
