A new temporary neighbourhood in High River is set to open for those who lost their homes to the floods.

Saddlebrook was created just north of the community to give provisional housing to evacuees while they rebuild or relocate.

The trailers will be home to High River residents who have been living in hotels and dorm rooms since they were forced out of the community at the end of June.

About 100 residents will start moving in on Wednesday and eventually the trailer-made neighbourhood will house as many as 1200 people.

Saddlebrook residents will be allowed to live rent-free for the first 90 days.

The province is still working out what will happen after that but says the accommodations cost about $150 per person per day.

Additional temporary neighbourhoods are being considered for the M.D. of Bighorn and the Siksika and Stoney First Nations.
