Man hit by truck in East Village dies, Calgary police seek CCTV footage

Calgary police say a pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck while crossing the road last week.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was struck by a 2004 GMC Sierra in the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Third Street S.E. at 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 30.

Police say the GMC was eastbound on Ninth Avenue when it hit the pedestrian, who was trying to "cross the road outside the confines of a crosswalk."

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, police announced the man had since died.

Anyone who may have information on the incident, who witnessed it or has dash-cam footage from the area is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
