A Calgary man, who is charged with killing his estranged girlfriend in October, has been fit to stand trial for her murder.
A judge found on Monday that 29-year-old Trey Guenther was mentally able to stand trial in the death of Lacey Jones-McKnight.
Jones-McKnight was found dead inside a car on Country Hills Blvd. on October 30.
He was found nearby trying to hang himself from a bridge.
He was hospitalized after the incident.
Guenther’s defence lawyer left it up to a psychiatrist to determine if Guenther would stand trial for the death.
He faces a charge of second degree murder and will remain in custody until a bail hearing is scheduled.
