Two Alberta women are facing charges and are accused of defrauding over $100,000 from Alberta Blue Cross over a three year span.

The pair are alleged to have bilked the health insurer of more than $119,000 between January 1, 2007 and January 31, 2010.

Investigators found a large number of fraudulent claims during a Blue Cross audit of employee coverage at Olymel in 2010 and turned the evidence over to RCMP.

Police have spent years putting the pieces of the case together and say the fraud involved over 100 employees and that a large number of small invoices were involved.

The two women allegedly encouraged a number of employees to sign blank claim forms that were then submitted to Alberta Blue Cross with false receipts. It is believed that the women then received a significant percentage of each claim payout.

Investigators conducted numerous interviews and examined hundreds of files and say the evidence shows that most of the false claims were for massages and used business names that were similar to those of local businesses.
