Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for a new telephone scam that has surfaced over the last few weeks.

Investigators are looking into reports of people receiving phone calls from a man saying he is a CPS member working with youth education and outreach programs.

The man goes on to describe a new program for educating kids about Internet safety and attempts to solicit donations to help fund this new program.

Police say the caller hangs up when victims request specific information.

They are asking Calgarians to report similar calls and to collect as much information as possible about the caller, including any numbers visible on call display.

Police say that they do not solicit donations for programs and are asking anyone with information about this case to call them or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of these methods:
