The search for a Calgary man missing since February is continuing on Monday at a rural area near the community of Beiseker.
More than 80 volunteers from Calgary and Cochrane Search and Rescue along with the Calgary Police Service, K-9, HAWC, and the Calgary Fire Department were on scene to search for Ryan Lane on Sunday.
Lane, 24, was last seen on Feb. 7 in the 5200 block of Country Hills Blvd. N.W.
Volunteers are combing hundreds of acres 85 km northeast of Calgary.
Officials say they still haven't found any trace of Lane at the area but they say they have a good reason to be searching there.
Duty Inspector Keith Cain says that it would be nice to find Lane alive, but say that since he has been missing for so long, that seems unlikely. "I think the investigators are looking for anything that could help explain what happened to him," Cain said.
Police canine, marine units, and a mounted patrol joined in the search to help where terrain, which includes river beds, open fields, and back roads, is difficult.
They have not released any information about what led them to search there.
They are, however, investigating a number of theories including the possibility of Lane's disappearance being linked to a phone call he received from someone claiming they could help him secure custody of his young daughter.
Investigators believe that Lane's disappearance may be due to foul play and they have questioned three suspects, but they are not being cooperative.
They don't have any information on how long the search will continue.
