Police have released composite sketches of two men who were seen near the southeast home of a Calgary couple who were murdered last year.
Don and Roxanne Carlson were found dead in their Lake Bonavista home on Saturday, February 15, 2014 by emergency crews who were called to the residence for a carbon monoxide call.
Carbon monoxide was ruled out as a contributing factor in the Carlson’s death and the CPS Homicide Unit was called in to investigate.
On Friday, police released two composite drawings of men who were seen in the area before the couple was found.
“We’ve canvassed the neighbourhood. We’ve spoken to everyone within blocks of the area and these two are the only individuals that have popped up during the investigation that we haven’t been able to locate,” said Insp. Steve Barlow, of the CPS Major Crimes Section.
Police say a witness saw the first man on Lake Erie Road S.E. on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
He is described as:
- Caucasian
- In his 40s
- Long dirty blond hair
- Slim build
The second man was seen in the 200 block of Lake Erie Road S.E. on Friday, February 14, 2014.
He is described as:
- Caucasian
- In his 30s
- 183 cm or 6’ tall
- Dark hair
Investigators say a newer silver or grey pickup truck, possibly a Toyota, may also have been seen near the couple’s home in the 12200 block of Lake Erie Road S.E.
An anonymous donor is offering a $25,000 reward for information directly responsible for the arrest and conviction of the party, or parties, responsible for the murder of the Carlsons.
To be eligible for this reward, anyone with information related to the homicide is asked to contact the Homicide Unit directly at homicidetips@calgarypolice.ca or by phone at (403) 428-8877.
Police say the reward is independent of Crime Stoppers rewards, which pay a cash reward of up to $2,000 for tips that lead to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or the seizure of illegal drugs.
