Stamps extend Begelton, bring back DE Folarin Orimolade in trade with Argos
One Calgary Stampeder favourite is sticking around a couple more seasons and an old favourite is returning for another go-round with the CFL club.
The Stampeders announced Friday that wide receiver Reggie Begelton, who had been under contract through 2025, has signed a one-year extension to keep him with the club through the 2026 season.
Late Friday afternoon, the Stampeders announced that they've traded Cameron Judge to the Toronto Argonauts for defensive end Folarin Orimolade.
The trade was announced on X by TSN reporter Farhan Lalji a little after 4 p.m. MST, and confirmed by the Stampeders a little after 4:30 p.m.
“The trade that sees DE Folarin Orimolade go back to #Stamps & Cam Judge head back to #Argos is now confirmed,” Lalji said. “Stamps desperately needed an impact pass rusher & Argos will have a ratio change at LB (linebacker), as the team also added LB Ryder Varga earlier in the week.”
“Flo is a premier pass-rusher and a player we believe will make us better,” said Stampeders general manager and Stampeder head coach Dave Dickenson.
Orimolade won a Grey Cup with the Stampeders in 2018, and also played for the club in 2021 and 2022 before departing for Toronto in 2023 and 2024, winning a second Grey Cup this past November.
Begelton was named a CFL all-star for the third time in 2024, starting all 18 games at slotback. He caught 92 passes, finishing second in the league and fifth in receiving yards with 1,150.
Begelton joined the Stampeders in 2017, then returned in 2021 following a stint with the Green Bay Packers.

“Reggie has been one of our most consistent and productive players and we’re excited to extend him through the 2026 season,” Dickenson said, in a statement posted on the Stamps’ website.
“I am thrilled to extend my journey with the Calgary Stampeders and contribute to our quest for success,” said Begelton. “I believe wholeheartedly in our team’s potential and I can’t wait to bring our fans the victories we all strive for. Go Stamps Go.”
