It’s the last day flood-affected individuals have to apply for pre-loaded debit cards to help them with costs associated with being out of their homes.
The province of Alberta created a payment program to help people cover some of the costs for residents who’ve been forced out of their homes as a result of June’s flooding.
So far, almost $70M has been handed out in the program.
The government says that they’re ending the emergency payment program because there are now long-term supports in place to help the rebuilding process.
Anyone who believes they still qualify for the flood assistance will have until 4 p.m. to apply.
The Canadian Red Cross is still offering additional flood relief benefits.
