The 55th annual Chinook Centre Stampede Breakfast brought an estimated crowd of more than 60,000 people to the parking lot of the southwest shopping mall.
In addition to the free breakfast of flapjacks, sausages, coffee and juice, visitors to select griddles encountered the smiling faces of NDP leader Thomas Mulcair, Liberal leader Justin Trudeau or Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The three perceived frontrunners in October’s federal election brought their respective campaigns to Calgary’s largest Stampede breakfast and flipped pancakes for the guests.
"Stampede is a wonderful opportunity," said Mulcair. "We brought our whole family out this time, our kids and our grandchildren are with Katherine and me."
"We are enjoying it every step of the way."
Besides electioneering, visitors to the breakfast were treated to music from country artists Aaron Lines, Tim Hus, Trinity Bradshaw, and Beamer Wigley.
