The family of a Calgary chiropractor, killed while on vacation in St Louis, Missouri three months ago, is frustrated at what they say is a lack of progress and a lack of information from police about their son's death.

The body of Dr. Geoffrey Wilson, 28,  was found inside a car following a collision with a fire hydrant on May 25, 2013.

Geoffrey's mother, Gigie Wilson, says the family was initially told his death was "suspicious", but police have not provided them with much more information about why the case may not be so straightforward.

"He died mysteriously," says Gigie Wilson. "I've been calling them and calling them and they still don't have the autopsy report.  They said 6 weeks.  It's now been three months and I still don't have it yet."

In an August 22 email addressed to CTV Calgary, St. Louis Police Department spokesperson Leah K. Freeman says "This incident is still an open investigation and is still considered a suspicious sudden death at this time".

A second email from the police department, sent from the account of spokesperson Schron Y. Jackson on August 28, stated homicide had been ruled out as the cause of the chiropractor's death.

"While our investigation into Mr. Wilson's death remains active pending the outcome of lab results, the Medical Examiner has ruled that he died from abdominal injuries relative to crushing. The Medical Examiner states that these particular injuries are not consistent with a homicide."

Geoffrey Wilson had attended University in Missouri and had many friends in the St. Louis area.  The chiropractor's family has been to St. Louis and investigated the circumstances surrounding Geoffrey's death.

According to family members, one of Geoffrey's friends has been questioned by police in the death investigation, but it's unclear if he's provided any help to detectives.

The family is saddened by what they perceive to be a lack of progress in the police investigation.

"It's very frustrating and it's eating us up," says Gigie Wilson. "I call every week, and there's still no answers."

"I feel like we're hitting a dead end."

The Wilson family says police have told them to be patient.

“I would like a resolution. I would like help.  If we could speed up the investigation... I don’t want speculation. I want the truth.  He went there for a wedding, and in less than 10 hours he was dead. I want to find out what really happened to my son.”
