A Friday morning incident in the southwest community of Cedarbrae has claimed one life.

According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a man, believed to be in his mid-twenties, was working underneath a car when the jack gave way, pinning the man underneath the vehicle.

A man who had been assisting with repairs to the vehicle witnessed the incident and called 911.

EMS responded to the 400 block of Cedarille Cres. S.W., but the man had succumbed to his injuries. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Calgary Police Service is investigating the incident.
