RCMP say a second man wanted in a shooting outside an Airdrie business at the end of September has turned himself in to police and is now facing charges.

Police were called to a fitness centre on Railway Avenue in the early morning hours of September 27 and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe the victim got into a verbal exchange with the occupants of a passing vehicle when the incident happened.

The 39-year-old victim was transported to hospital in Calgary in serious condition and is expected to fully recover.

On Friday, Michael Sharman, 35, was arrested in Calgary during a routine traffic stop. He is facing several charges in connection to the shooting including; aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a weapon, assault, and uttering threats.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of a second man, 21-year-old Mathew Van Schiak and police say he turned himself in late Sunday evening.

Schiak is charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, carrying a concealed weapon, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Airdrie on the charges later this week.
