The Homicide Unit is investigating the suspicious death of a young boy at a home in the city’s northwest on the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to a home in the 400 block of Ranchlands Grove N.W. at about 9:50 p.m. Saturday for a check on welfare and found the little boy dead inside.

An autopsy was conducted on Monday and the boy has been identified as three-year-old Isaiah Zoue.

Police say further testing is being done and that the death is suspicious but has not been classified as a homicide.

“We believe the incident happened in the family home,” said Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm with the Calgary Police Service’s Homicide Unit. “We do not believe it was a random incident.”

An adult female was also found in the home and was taken to hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition.

Neighbours say the woman is Isaiah’s mother and have identified her as 28-year-old Fatim Bamba.

"The mother was in medical distress and she was taken to the hospital," said Chisholm.

Police say they have no suspects but have identified a number of people that they would like to talk to.

“We have spoken to some people yes,” said Chisholm.

Chisholm says the boy's father is not a person of interest in this case.
