Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi ended a year unlike any other in his career, sending out holiday wishes to everyone in the province.

Nenshi returned to the political arena in June, winning the leadership of the Alberta NDP party, getting 86 per cent of the votes cast on the first ballot.

“Last Christmas, I did not think I would be back in politics,” Nenshi said in a video posted on X. “And it’s been a big year for Albertans, we’ve had a real rollercoaster: high highs of great community-building together and some real lows.

“Here we are at the end of the year,” Nenshi added, “and I wish that all of you were gathered together with people you love as we celebrate this holiday season.

“I just want to say,  from my family to yours, on behalf of Alberta’s New Democratic Party caucus, I want to wish everyone the merriest of Christmases and happiest of New Years, a wonderful holiday season of rest and relaxation and fun and laughter and doing all the great things about this season as we get ready for an even better 2025," he said.

“Happy holidays everybody.”
