The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is asking for public assistance as they continue their investigation into a police-involved shooting on Deerfoot Trail which claimed the life of a suspected truck thief with a history of criminal activity.

On the evening of February 28, Roy and 26-year-old Ashley Jennifer Silver are alleged to have stolen a Ford F350 truck and led police on an extended pursuit throughout south Calgary. According to police, the stolen truck was involved in multiple hit-and-run collisions and was seen driving on sidewalks and pathways.

The pursuit ended when CPS vehicles surrounded the stolen truck on Deerfoot Trail near McKenzie Lake Blvd. and shots were fired into the cab of the Ford F350. Roy was pronounced dead at the scene and Silver was transported to hospital in critical condition.

ASIRT is leading the investigation into the firing of police firearms.
