Police say the body of a missing Vulcan senior has been recovered and two people are under arrest.
Otto ‘Bunty' Loose, 77, was reported missing by members of his family at about 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10.
RCMP has located the deceased remains of Loose and say it appears he was the victim of a tragic murder.
A 35-year-old male and a 28-year-old female have been arrested by RCMP investigators and are expected to be charged with his death.
Police say they will likely charge the male individual with Murder in the First Degree, Committing an Indignity to Human Remains, Kidnapping and Forcible Confinement.
The man was arrested on Monday at Claresholm RCMP Detachment without incident and is currently in police custody.
The common-law spouse of the male individual has also been arrested without incident and may be charged with being an Accessory to Murder and Obstruction of Justice.
Both of the people arrested are known to police.
Police allege that the male accused abducted the victim from his residence near Vulcan late Sunday evening.
Investigators believe that the victim was taken, in his vehicle, to Nanton and Claresholm where several suspicious financial transactions were attempted by the accused.
It is alleged that the victim was then murdered in the early morning hours at a rural location near Claresholm. The remains were then moved in the same vehicle to a remote wooded area where they were found by RCMP investigators on Saturday afternoon.
An autopsy will likely take place later this week to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators say there are no additional suspects at this time and the investigation is continuing.
