Police say investigators working on the case of a fatal hit and run on 17 Avenue S.E. have located the truck involved in the incident.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, a Good Samaritan stopped and approached a car driven by a person who had gotten lost in the neighbourhood.

While talking to the lost driver, the man, 54, was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. He died at the scene.

The driver of the truck failed to remain at the scene.

Officials say the truck, a black Dodge Ram, was found in northeast Calgary on Sunday. Police tracked down the vehicle, saying that it would have had significant damage to the front because of the crash.

They say they have determined that the truck was not stolen at the time the crash took place.

Police are speaking with the owner, but no charges have been laid so far.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the CPS Traffic Unit at 403-567-4000 or Crime Stoppers.
