Police have issued warrants for a local woman in connection with a cell phone scam that targeted elderly Calgarians.

Investigators are looking for Violet Banh, 40, of Calgary and say she is charged with six counts of fraud under $5000.

At least three seniors were allegedly duped into letting a woman purchase cell phones and cell phone plans using their identities. The woman would then resell the cell phones to unsuspecting buyers.

Police say the suspect in this case lived in the same building as the victims, who are in their 80s and 90s.

The suspect is alleged to have befriended the seniors in the months leading up to the purchases in March and April of 2013.

Violet Banh is described as:

  • Asian
  • 163 cm or 5’4” tall
  • 54 Kg or 120 pounds
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

She is also known to use the alias Vicky Chan.
