New disturbing reports are surfacing that concern the death of a teenage boy in the northwest Calgary community of Citadel.
Those reports say that the boy, who was just 15 years old, was noticably emaciated when he was found dead in the home on Tuesday morning.
Police aren't confirming those details, but CTV has learned that someone had called 911 at about 10:00 p.m. on the night the boy's body was found.
By the time emergency crews arrived at the home in the 100 block of Citadel Dr. N.W., the boy was already dead.
Those same reports say that the scene was so upsetting for first responders that they needed to have counsellors brought in to help them cope.
Police can’t say if the teenage boy was murdered, but the Homicide Unit has taken the lead on the investigation.
Neighbours are calling the family who lived in the home as a friendly one, seeing the father working in the garage on various woodworking projects.
They say that he always lent a hand when it came to home repairs or gardening.
However, they are shocked to hear that someone may have been killed.
“Quite a big shock actually,” said Marty Rowley. “I’m surprised, right, I come out and everything’s going on and the police tape and everything.”
“It’s just not something you would expect in Citadel, I mean you walk by everyday and just to see something like this and to find out what’s going on, how safe are you up here?” said Ty Ward.
Other neighbours say that no one should be jumping to any conclusions.
An autopsy has already been completed, but more forensic testing is needed to determine not only the cause of death but the manner in which he died.
No further information is being released at this time.
